Trotsky and Tahrir – The History Girls

July 8, 2013

Greetings from an internet café in Durrus, West Cork. The sun is not only shining, people – it’s scorching. I’ve been out around Sheep’s Head and even there this writer and book-lover managed to pick up some well-loved cloth-bound books.

Below is a link to my guest blog today on the History Department site at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

For the last two days I have had the privilege of hearing the Egyptian writer, Ahdaf Soueif, describe very recent events in Tahrir Square. She left Egypt to visit us at the West Cork Literary Festival. She flies back to Tahrir soon. An experience not to be forgotten.

I will blog about meeting Ahdaf another day.

In the meantime, let the sun shine and bring on the ice cream!
